Anhydrous aluminum sulfate is colorless crystal, aqueous aluminum sulfate is colorless granular or powdery crystal with luster, industrial products are white or microgray powder or massive crystals, because there may be a small amount of ferrous sulfate impurities appear green, the surface of the product is yellow after oxidation. Aluminum sulfate is soluble in water, acid, base, insoluble in alcohol, easily soluble in water and hydrolyzed, and the hydrolysis product is a colloidal precipitation of basic salt and aluminum hydroxide.
