On-site Mica Powder Grading with Square Gyratory Sifter
This customer is a professional mineral processor producing flake mica powder, supplying raw materials for coatings, cosmetics, plastic fillers and
electronic insulation materials. Flake mica is thin, flat and fragile. The client’s biggest headache was that traditional vibrating screens apply strong
high-frequency vibration, which easily breaks the natural flake structure of mica, damages the luster of finished powder and reduces product value.
Besides, the old equipment had limited throughput, uneven material distribution on the screen surface, frequent mesh blinding, unstable grading
precision and serious dust escape. Multiple particle sizes had to be separated by several machines, occupying large workshop space and bringing high
labor and maintenance costs. The inconsistent particle size and damaged mica flakes made it hard to satisfy high-end overseas buyers.
After full communication, our technical team learned that the customer required large hourly capacity, multi-grade classification and protection of mica
flake integrity. We recommended the square gyratory sifter solution. Different from ordinary vibrating screens, the gyratory sifter adopts gentle planar
swing motion, simulating manual sieving. Materials slide and spread slowly on the long screening deck instead of being violently bounced. This
low-acceleration movement protects the thin mica flakes from crushing and retains their natural shimmer. It can be designed with multiple decks to
separate several different mesh sizes in one single pass. The fully sealed structure effectively controls dust leakage, and built-in bouncing ball cleaning
system relieves mesh blockage caused by flat mica flakes sticking to the sieve cloth.
We arranged an on-site screening test at the customer’s factory. Our engineer arrived on site, finished assembly, leveling and parameter debugging
quickly. We adjusted feeding rate, swing stroke and deck angle according to the actual mica powder property. During the whole trial run, we continuously
monitored capacity, grading accuracy, flake integrity and dust condition. The mica powder spread evenly across the screen surface and was separated into
target fractions smoothly. After sampling inspection, the finished mica flakes kept intact shape and good luster, no excessive crushing, and the mixed
coarse and fine powder rate was well under control. The customer checked samples and production data on site and was highly satisfied with the
performance.
Compared with the previous screening line, the square gyratory sifter greatly boosted hourly output. One machine replaced multiple sets of old sieving
equipment, saving workshop area. The frequency of mesh cleaning and downtime dropped obviously, cutting labor cost and improving continuous
production efficiency. Dust emission meets local environmental requirements. Stable grading quality and well-protected mica flake appearance helped the
customer upgrade product grades and win more long-term orders from overseas downstream manufacturers.
Following the successful on-site test, the customer confirmed the order. We delivered complete operation guidance, maintenance training and spare parts
support. Up to now, this square gyratory sifter has been running stably on the customer’s production line. This project proves that our gyratory sifter is an
ideal option for flake mica powder and other fragile sheet mineral powders where both large throughput and intact particle shape are required. We
provide customized deck layers, size configuration and on-site test service for global mineral powder clients. If you face similar screening troubles with
mica, talc, kaolin and other non-metallic mineral powders, welcome to contact us to arrange your own on-site sieving trial.
